    STOTT PILATES® Flexion Free Workshop

    Back by popular demand! This workshop challenges instructors to think and program creatively to safely challenge clients who cannot or should not flex their spines. It is also beneficial for clients whose postural goals will be reached through challenging neutral spine alignment.
    Learn how to modify Pilates exercises in a range of intensity levels to create workouts that achieve the primary goal of limiting spinal flexion while providing an effective full-body workout. Small hand weights, Stability Cushions and the Flex-Band® are used to increase upper body resistance while further challenging the stability of the torso in a neutral alignment.

    Pacific Northwest Pilates: Therapeutic Pilates: Advanced Postural & Dynamic Movement Assessment – Level 1

    Working with an injured client is an art. There are thousands of issues that result in pain, many of which are difficult to see initially. Therapeutic Pilates can be an effective tool IF you know where to start and how to interpret the clues. This four-hour practical workshop is created for individuals ready for a thought-provoking, challenging and enriching experience.
    Participants will be given a systematic Pilates-focused assessment, and will be taught how to conduct and interpret each test. From there, we will interpret the results and create a set of goals for a therapeutic Pilates program. Participants will enhance their ability to get the most information from a client assessment, problem-solve and use clinical reasoning to become faster and more effective assisting clients. Melanie and her team will share their extensive clinical experience, offer hands-on assistance and provide notes and visual aids to help you expand your understanding and apply your knowledge to your own Pilates practice.

    You’ll learn how to:

    • Systematically assess movement and postural control
    • Effectively interpret client history
    • Use clinical reasoning skills to test outcomes
    • Set priorities specifically for each client

    This workshop is appropriate for participants who’ve certified in STOTT PILATES mat and reformer (or an equivalent certification) and have a minimum of one-year teaching experience. An education in STOTT PILATES Injuries and Special Populations (ISP) course is preferred.

    STOTT PILATES® Equipment Programming for Breast Cancer Rehab

    Many more women are surviving breast cancer today than ever before. A specially-designed fitness program is a tremendous asset, providing a more comfortable recovery and increasing strength and endurance to resume an active lifestyle. This workshop developed by the Merrithew team looks at a series of gentle, targeted resistance-based Reformer exercises, focusing on ROM for the entire shoulder girdle. Other areas of emphasis include establishing mobility, restoring posture, ensuring proper bio-mechanics and developing core and peripheral strength to address muscular imbalances developed from various types of surgeries and treatments.

Give your clients and classes something to jump about with this pumped up workout on the Reformer. Building on the intensity of Level 1, this workshop continues to challenge coordination and cardiovascular fitness with more complex jumping intervals using either the Jumpboard or Cardio-Tramp® Rebounder. Learn to ensure safety and proper technique while incorporating strengthening exercises for upper and lower body as well as the all-important core. Designed for Intermediate to Advanced-level clients or groups, this intense workout developed by the Merrithew™ team delivers all-over fitness while easily motivating and maintaining interest.

Group Equipment Track

Advanced Postural and Dynamic Movement Assessment Level 2 will expand upon the insights gained in Level 1, and will introduce supine, prone, and weight transfer assessments. We’ll focus on linking the results from all of the assessments (Level 1& 2) in order to establish priorities and program effectively for each client.
This three-hour practical workshop is designed to enhance participants’ ability to work effectively and progress complex clients. It will focus on problem-solving and clinical reasoning skills for the Pilates professional.
Melanie and her team will share their extensive clinical experience, offer hands-on assistance and provide notes and visual aids to help you expand your understanding and apply your knowledge to your own Pilates practice.You’ll learn how to:
  • Systematically assess movement and postural control
  • Use clinical reasoning skills to interpret movement patterns
  • Interpret of all of the movement assessments in Level 1&2
  • Set priorities specifically for each client

This workshop is only available to participants who’ve taken Level 1, who are certified in STOTT PILATES mat and reformer (or an equivalent certification) and have a minimum of one-year teaching experience. An education in STOTT PILATES Injuries and Special Populations (ISP) course is preferred.
