Designed for pilates instructors and fitness professionals, most introductory and continuing education workshops qualify for STOTT PILATES® CECs and many are eligible for credits elsewhere.

STOTT PILATES® Athletic Conditioning on the Stability Chair

This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of exercises on the STOTT PILATES Split-Pedal Stability Chair that can benefit any level of athlete. The capabilities of the chair will be highlighted, and all its features will be utilized in the context of a well-rounded workout designed to retrain imbalanced muscles and builds on the strength and agility of the whole body. Discover functional movements against spring resistance in a variety of positions, that train core stability while working bilaterally, unilaterally or reciprocally with the limbs to enhance sport-specific performance or everyday life.
STOTT PILATES® Exploring the Arc Barrel

The Arc Barrel has traditionally been used solely for Pilates training. Now, explore how to utilize the cushioned and curved surface of the barrel to facilitate a unique series of stretching and strengthening moves that fit perfectly into any conditioning routine. An excellent cross-training tool, the Arc Barrel can be used to support the torso or the limbs and allow focus on isolating precise movements in individual joints. Then combine and incorporate all of them into an efficient and effective full-body workout. Discover how to position the Barrel in a variety of ways to mobilize and strengthen joint structures as well as to increase stability at the core.

This lecture is designed to address some of the recent controversy surrounding stretching in its various forms. Receive an overview of the most commonly used methods to increase flexibility and mobility in various parts of the body. Analyze the pros and cons of various flexibility routines and discuss their application to individual clients relating to exercise goals.
STOTT PILATES® Reformer for the Older Adult

Explore the benefits of working on the Reformer for the older adult in this interactive workshop. Despite decrements associated with aging, the ability to adapt to endurance and strength training is well documented. The Reformer provides widely variable spring tensions to address both upper and lower body as well as core training. Modifications of exercises and considerations for limited mobility and strength issues are discussed with a view to enhance core stability, increase lean muscle mass, increase range of motion and improve body awareness.
Pilates for Dancers

This three-hour workshop is designed to help Pilates instructors understand how to effectively work with elite dancers. We shall discuss the functional requirements for dancing in terms of strength, mobility, fluidity, and control. Participants will learn about common injuries, how prevent them, and special considerations during rehabilitation. Particular emphasis will be placed on programming Pilates for dancers.

Seasoned instructors already recognize the benefits of incorporating the Fitness Circle in most Matwork sessions. Now, learn how the resistance ring can bring the same variety and challenge into group or private Reformer settings.Discover modifications that bring focus to a different aspect of many traditional exercises. Add more challenge to adductors and abductors of the peripheral limbs as well as assist in activating the core. The addition of theFitness Circle reinforces correctmuscle firing patterns and helps ensure correct positioning while adding an element of fun and variety to each workout.
STOTT PILATES® Barre Workshop

This brand new workshop uses Ballet standing work combined with intervals of innovative matwork that is guaranteed to give you a full body workout like you’ve never had before. The Barre work is done using a Foam Roller for stability and Tubing Cuffs and a mini-stability ball that will shape and tone your legs. Then take those same props to the floor for a whole new way to work your arms and core! You don’t have to be a dancer to take this workshop, but you just might end up looking like one.

Prenatal clients require special attention and programming considerations. This innovative workshop on the Split-Pedal Stability Chair provides trainers with specially designed exercises and modifications using this highly versatile tool. Appropriate STOTT PILATES exercise adaptations are explored in sitting, standing, side-lying and other beneficial positions. The latest medical information and ACOG guidelines as well as anatomical and physiological changes, risk factors and movement considerations are kept front of mind. Exercise choices are concentrated on second trimester concerns, although considerations for those in first and third trimesters are also addressed.
Pilates for Clients with Hip & Knee Replacements

This three hour workshop will help instructors work safely and effectively with clients who have, or are preparing for joint replacement. We will focus on identifying and unwinding compensation patterns that develop prior to surgery.

Most women are able to return to exercise four to six weeks after a regular birth or when they get clearance from their physician. Many of the exercises performed during the second and third trimester of pregnancy will be suitable now, but other exercises can be added to focus on reactivating and stabilizing the pelvic floor, transversus abdominis and obliques as well as developing lumbo-pelvic stability. This gentle but effective workout incorporates Toning Balls™ to get new moms back on the right track.
