PNWP Functional Anatomy Course

PNWP offers a 20-hour course for those who need to learn—or revisit—the basics of functional anatomy before beginning the STOTT PILATES® instructor certification program. Functional Anatomy courses are offered three times a year. 

Topics

  • Basic biomechanics (levers, effects of gravitational force, effects of muscle force)
  • Anatomical terminology
  • Skeletal anatomy
  • Actions at the joints
  • Major muscle groups and muscles’ origin insertion and action
  • Select exercises from the STOTT PILATES repertoire will also be included to illustrate functional anatomy

  • Muscle origins, insertions and actions
  • Analyze the functional anatomy of an exercise and movement
  • Deepen understanding of the body to prepare for Intensive Mat (IMP) or Intensive Reformer (IR) courses
