Certification Policies and Procedures
Attendance
Attendance is mandatory at all sessions. Those who need to be excused from a scheduled class must make an absence request two weeks before the required absence date. All missed time must be rescheduled. It is the student’s responsibility to seek out and complete all lessons and assignments covered during such absences. Students are required to schedule private sessions with an Instructor Trainer to make up lost class time. Private make-up classes will be at an additional cost to students and will be billed at the make-up session rate. See prices under “Additional Fees.”
Appearance and Dress
A professional appearance is required of all students while observing and teaching at Pacific NW Pilates. Leggings, sweatpants, tights and shorts are permissible. Skirts and low fitting blouses are unacceptable attire while teaching and demonstrating exercises. Students and Apprentices are expected to dress professionally and discretely while observing sessions or practicing teaching.
General Policy
Each student is expected to act in ways which create a positive teaching atmosphere at Pacific NW Pilates Education. It is imperative while observing that one remains quiet and respectful of all clients and teachers at work. Any questions or comments, while encouraged, should be saved until the session has ended. Please do not use cellular phones or beepers while observing or teaching sessions.
Emergency Absences
Emergency absences are defined as illness, bereavement, family emergency or unanticipated last minute transportation difficulty. Students are responsible for rescheduling all missed hours of training and completing all missed course work at their own additional expense (see above).
In the event that an emergency requires a student to withdraw him/herself from the program, all payment for training received to date is due. Please refer to the Refund Policy on the application. If at any point a student decides to resume his/her training, he/ she may be requested to begin certification from the beginning.
Withdrawal
Students who wish to withdraw from the program for any reason must submit a written request to withdraw and meet with an Instructor Trainer. Although refunds of tuition are not possible after the first day of the training, students may postpone their training to begin with the following certification program. Students that have transferred to a new course, will be required to attend all times and days of the new course. Pacific NW Pilates Education reserves the right to charge additional fees for course time that is repeated. The course must be completed within one calendar year.

- Application Fee $25.00
- Returned Check Fee $25.00
- Make-up session w/Instructor Trainer $120.00/hr

- The tuition deposit is refundable if the student withdraws two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of training.
- There will be no refunds as of the first day of classes
- Pacific NW Pilates Education reserves the right to dismiss a student from the program after fair warning as discussed in the dismissal policies. There will be no refund of tuition under these conditions
Dismissal
Students may be given a warning for any of the following reasons. A student who receives three or more warnings may be subject to dismissal.
- Tardy attendance to class
- Unprofessional appearance or dress while observing, practicing or teaching at PNWPILATES Education
- Unprofessional behavior towards clients, instructors or fellow students
- Solicitation of PNWPILATES clients
Payment
Full tuition payment is required on or before the first day of class unless a student has a payment plan. Failure to make payment or have a payment plan on the first day of classes may be grounds for dismissal from the program.
Train to Teach Program
Pacific NW Pilates Education feels strongly that student training in a studio where experienced teachers are available to mentor can greatly improve the teaching quality of a beginning teacher. The Train to Teach Program is entirely optional for the Intensive Certification Courses, however it is a condition of employment at Pacific NW PIlates. See more details here about our Train to Teach program.
Certification Exam
This exam is given in two parts: a written exam that includes multiple choice and essay questions and a practical exam. It is recommended that the written exam be taken before the practical, but in either case, both sections of the exam must be taken within a week of each other and within six (6) months from the last day of training. The exam fee is non-refundable. If the student fails to pass either the written or practical exam, an additional exam fee will be charged at the time of reexamination.
Student rights
In the unlikely event that the Pacific NW Pilates Education needs to cancel a certification course, all students will be refunded 100% of the full tuition less the number of hours taught. (i.e. if you paid $1050 for the IMP course, you will be refunded at the rate of $1050 divided by 40 times the number of hours that are lacking.) In this case, all manuals and videos must be returned or purchased at their full retail price. Returned retail items must be in re-sellable condition. All attempts shall first be made to resume the program at a later date. In this case, any student resuming the certification will not be subject to admission requirements or fees.
